Week 87: More Pictures

Corn, cheese, and some Inca Cola...can't complain!

Just a cute little tike!

Went on a work visit and I found a farm and plants!! I know it sounds
stupid to be excited about that, but there is literally nothing green here and no
such thing as open spaces so I had to take advantage and take a pic, I was stoked.

Healthy lookin fridge...

Week 86: Pics and Conference

Hey everyone!

I loved conference this weekend. I think it put a lot of excitement and motivation in the saints worldwide. It was a wakeup on the continuing revelation topic and I am grateful for that! There were fewer talks on doctrine but there were some good ones in there! Pres Eyring gave a KILLER talk in priesthood sesh and I loved Bednar's talk a lot!

I'm getting old over here in the mission field but we're going strong still!! Haha, my body is super worn out though. Every week I become more and more tired. But I sure love the mish and its bittersweet to only have 3 months left.

Week 85: Crazy Week

Howdy friends and fam,

This week was crazy so I'll knock it down to bullet points:

  • There are crazy dogs that try to bite us and always bark on the street to our house so this week we took a spray bottle and put vinegar and super hot peppers in so that they stop barking at us, haha! Woops!
  • We met a crazy less-active that was a bishop 15 years ago. He said that one day he was carried through the sky and he turned into the high priest of the whole universe. His goal is to save every soul in the world and he has meetings in his kitchen every Thursday at 7 pm where supposedly all of the spirits in the universe meet in his house....he's a crazy guy. He also has a son that's 20 that's named Nephi Mosiah. He isn't baptized so we tried to talk with him but he didn't want anything to do with us. Hahaha, what a weird day that was.
  • We had a miracle happen! Josue got baptized!! We tried to baptize Josue a month ago but he has a crazy fear of water so he wouldn't get his head under. But we did practices with him throughout the week. On Saturday we got into the font and when he was going down into the water, he got scared (like always) and stood back up but we forced him down anyways....haha. It sounds cruel now but he was sooooo happy when he got out of the water, even though he was gagging and choking up water he was so happy because he's been trying to get baptized for 6 months!
As I'm reading this email it seems really weird and strange....but that's just how the week went! Maybe this next week will be more normal but you never know out here in Santa Isabel!

Week 84: Short and Sweet

Hey everyone,

Sorry to keep it short and sorry that I don't write much lately! I wish I had more time to write a good letter every week! But life is GREAT! Trying to take advantage of every moment here in the mish.

I got a new comp this week! It's Elder KUNZ! He is from my same group from coming out here and he's from Preston, Idaho. We quote a lot of Napoleon Dynamite together, hahaha. He was the assistant for the last 6 months and is now ending the mish out here in Santa Isabel. We had some HARDCORE rejection this week, honestly more than I've received ever in the mish. BUTTTT the good news is that we had 2 baptisms programmed! Josue for this Saturday and his cousin Billyjoe (sweet name huh?) for the 31st.

I think I always say this, but I just love being a missionary! I recommend EVERYONE that's on the fence about going to just GO!! It will change your life and you will change/save others lives. This is the work of the Lord and it's real! Have a great week y'all!

Week 81: Howdy

Hey there everyone,

Sorry again for not writing in a hot minute. Time keeps chuggin along a little too fast down here! But we're enjoying it! We ALMOST broke records this month in our zone. But sadly, two days before their baptisms, 7 baptisms fell through due to flippin oppostion! But it's alright, we still turned out with a good month with19 baptisms in the zone.

In our area, we had a baptismal service for an investigator named Josue on Saturday. Josue is 16 years old and all of his family are recent converts. He hasn't got baptized yet cuz he has hard core ADHD and also a terrible terrible fear of water. We planned his baptism so that there wasn't anyone there to make him nervous, it was only me, Elder Parra, the bishop, and Josue. It took like 20 mins for Josue to get used to the water and all the way in the font. Then we practiced putting his head under water and he was a little freaked out but it went dece. Then we tried to baptize him and he freakout hard core and didn't go under. Sooooo....I got in the font with them! Haha, it was crazy because I haven't ever gone into the font before. I tried to support him and help him go under but it was no use. He ended up getting too scared and we ended it. All in all, we were in the font like 1 hour and a half.....so that was interesting and honestly quite a bummer, BUT!!!!!!!.....sad experiences always serve to teach patience and help us to focus on the positive and be grateful for the blessings that we do have.

I sure love being a missionary, time goes by too fast so you gotta take advantage of every moment. This is the work of salvation!

Have a great week folks!

Week 80: ¡Hola!

I'm doing great...still! :) Haha, I'm sorry that I say the same thing every week but it's true! I really am doing well and am enjoying the mission. I'm happy about my comp and my zone! We had a baptism on Saturday so that was cool too! My zone is going to break records this month! WOOHOO:) haha. Weather over here is FANTASTIC! It's always like 80 degrees. I like it a lot. My area is cool too. :) The ward is very weak but it is improving! We had like 80 people come to church yesterday!

Nos vemos,
